Career Networking and Entrepreneurship event

The Mentoring program at St. George Church sponsored a highly rated Career Networking and Entrepreneurship event on Saturday, January 19, 2019.  Approximately 100 participants gathered in fellowship to exchange information and provide guidance to those looking for new career options.  Volunteers, including St. George parish council President Alan Rossy,  staffed 26 career booths and decorated the Fellowship hall with banners, brochures, and free give-aways from a wide variety of professions.  Staff from YES Montreal was on site to describe their Job Search and Entrepreneurship services for Montreal’s anglophone community as well as offering a dynamic presentation on successful networking strategies.  The highlight of the day’s event was the interview of SmoothiesGo founder, and St. George parish council Vice Chairman, Andrea Chamandy by CJAD radio host Josh Miller of Fuller Landau. Andrea shared her background story in addition to the challenges and opportunities of starting a business in today’s new social media economy.  The Mentoring program wishes to thank the pastor Fr. Joseph Purpura and his family (Kh. Kathleen and daughter Cristina), Gaby Habash, and all of the volunteers and participants who turned a chilly winter Saturday into an amazingly warm and beautiful day of fellowship.
